Marty
McCaffrey is an internationally recognized authority and researcher
on offshore and nearshore IT and BPO outsourcing and is the founder
of Software Outsourcing Research (SOR), a leading consulting company
on offshore IT and BPO outsourcing. SOR was founded to conduct
research on the offshore industry, provide consulting services
to the client and vendor community, and provide informational
seminars and conferences on the subject. In addition, he is a
senior advisor to The Outsourcing Institute and a senior consultant
for Ed Yourdon's Cutter Consortium Sourcing Group.
McCaffrey has been a pioneer in offshore outsourcing research,
starting his investigations in 1997. This research has focused
on the key issues required for successful offshore outsourcing
and has been facilitated by client users, vendors and academics.
During his research and consulting he has examined software and
BPO industries in India, Philippines, Ireland, UK, Canada, Australia,
Mexico, Japan, Singapore, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic and
Hungary. He has also published numerous articles on the subject
and has been widely quoted in industry periodicals including CIO
Magazine, CIO Australia, ComputerWorld, Forbes and CFO Europe.
He has organized and chaired over 20 conferences on offshore IT
and BPO outsourcing. He is recognized as a dynamic and thought
provoking speaker.
Prior to founding SOR he was a visiting assistant professor and
research associate for ten years at the Naval Postgraduate School
(NPS) in Monterey, California. His teaching and research focused
on software engineering, expert system development, program management
and IT outsourcing. As the program manager of a team of over 30
graduate students and faculty he developed the largest expert
system ever deployed in the Navy. Before joining the NPS faculty,
Marty was a Marine Corps officer and pilot and the Marine Corps'
project manager for the Global Positioning System (GPS).
